As Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. A very involved position, this role produces Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. And during the monthly close, your responsibilities will also cover various aspects of internal reporting. In addition, your responsibilities include communicating with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, playing an active role in compliance, and reviewing schedules for the reporting processes. Key responsibilities - Partake in annual closing processes - Support fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation - Maintain intricate journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll - Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed - Maintain monthly payment schedules - Participate in various department-wide initiatives - Report on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner - Oversee the creation of monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for reporting to management - Conduct month end close, journal entries, without supervision - Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

Requirements

- Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity - High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills - Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills - Self-starter and strong ethical standards - Competent with spreadsheets and databases - Recent and relevant accounting experience - Skilled with ERP systems - Proficiency in Bank Account Reconciliation - General familiarity with mortgage processing - Practical knowledge of Mortgage Documents - General ledger experience - Experience with Mortgage Industry - Solid understanding of Accounts Receivable (AR) - Loan review experience preferred - Well-founded grasp of Mortgage Closing - Proven knowledge of mortgage financing and lending - Proven analytical skills - defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions - Dedication and requisite skills to meet critical business deadlines - BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics - Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
