Senior Staff Accountant

Overview

Responsible for the accounting and reconciliation of balance sheet, homebuilding reporting, managing property taxes, land acquisition accounting and related wire requests, managing budgets with department Directors and prepare and review month-end reports.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with month-end-close process, including inventory and cost of sales items
  • Verify and process for payment all property tax bills, prepare monthly accrual, and handle coordination with the escrow as well as homeowner inquiries regarding property taxes
  • Maintain sound accounting methods and systems in accordance with corporate policies and procedures
  • Assist with monthly revenue entries, various month-end accruals, re-class and allocation entries
  • Prepare manual checks in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Run month-end Corporate reports and review for accuracy
  • Deposit checks using the remote deposit system in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Review and record wire transfers
  • Manage P Card process in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Projects assigned by Division Controller or Assistant Controller
  • Assist in various other projects as required/needed

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and CPA preferred
  • Five+ (5+) years related accounting and financial experience, homebuilding experience preferred
  • Advanced computer skills experience required– Microsoft Word and Excel (Vlookup and Pivot); experience with use of JD Edwards, Essbase and Hyperion highly preferred
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-tasks, coordinate meetings with Department Directors and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication, analytical and writing skills as well as supervisory skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This is primarily a sedentary office position which requires the ability to occasionally bend, stoop, reach, lift, move, and carry office materials and supplies weighing twenty (25) pounds or less. Finger dexterity is required to operate a computer keyboard and calculator. May be required to operate a motor vehicle.
