Senior Cost Accountant

A CRG client in the Greensboro, High Point, Winston Salem , NC area is looking for a Senior Cost Accountant. This position has primary responsibility for executing the month and year-end closing process, detailed account analysis, analysis of financial results, research and resolution of issues and to understand and adhere to accounting policy and procedure. This function requires well developed skills in accounting, business analysis, and process improvement. The successful candidate will have an ability to thrive in an environment of rapid change; work effectively within cross-functional teams; will be highly resourceful; able to deliver strong results; have a passion for operational excellence, and possess a strong set of communication and analytical skills. This position also provides support in the execution of corporate accounting functions and development of corporate general accounting procedures.

Job Responsibilities:


  • Executes the monthly and quarterly close process including journal entries and coordination with management, Senior Operations Financial Analysts to ensure accuracy and completeness.

  • Analysis of month end results: P&L and Balance Sheet including variance analysis by telling the story.

  • Executes New Product Costs and analysis, and leads the plant reconciliation process.

  • Analyzes various General Ledger account reconciliations and provides detailed analysis

  • Assists in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial packages for analysis and review.

  • Monitors adherence to corporate policy and processes. Assists plants with resolving accounting issues.

  • Assists in the development and monitoring of company-wide accounting policies and procedures.

  • Exceptionally proficient in identifying and solving problems while thinking outside the box; hands-on but capable of interacting with all levels management and employees.

  • Takes the initiative in identifying and acting upon opportunities to drive more effective and/or efficient uses of resources.

  • Experience in improving business process to reduce work on various accounting functions, multi-tasking between projects.

  • Provides support in the development and refinement of shared services accounting procedures with emphasis on making the process more efficient while maintaining or improving the level of accuracy and control.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, ability to communicate cross function and throughout all levels

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting from four-year College or University. CPA and/or CMA strongly preferred. MBA a plus.

  • Five plus years of related experience and/or training. Manufacturing experience a plus.

  • ERP systems experience required; Microsoft Dynamics AX experience a plus.
