Based in Richmond, Virginia, the Payroll Administrator position is a long-term temporary-to-full-time opportunity. Major responsibilities - Handle payroll discrepancies through information collection and analysis - Continue employee confidence in payroll operations by keeping sensitive information confidential - Offer proper review and verification of source documents - Exercise of proper data management by collecting, calculating, and entering payroll data - Certify compliance with federal and state regulations and guidelines - Draft reports by organizing all summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages - Enter changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers as part of managing payroll records - Continue implementation of established policies and procedures to maintain payroll operations, reporting changes where necessary - Calculate employer social security, unemployment, and worker compensation payments and employee federal and state income and social security taxes to determine payroll liabilities - Take charge of all questions and requests related to payroll - Manage other tasks as assigned - Deliver assistance to payroll with internal and external audits - Manage employee deductions and other liabilities - Prepare for department heads relevant weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports

Requirements

- Previous experience handling high volume multi-state payroll, billing, licensing, AP, etc. - Preference will be given to Certified Payroll Professional - Notable analytical, quantitative and social skills - 2+ years of relevant experience in payroll - Mastery of internal controls - Understanding of federal and state payroll regulations and requirements - Outstanding data entry skills - Kronos experience desired - Interest calculations experience - Knowledge of garnishments payroll - Experience with Microsoft Excel - Payroll experience - Prior experience working with accounting software - Well-informed in basic accounting principles and solid financial acumen
