Exciting opportunity for a Payroll Administrator with 2+ years of payroll experience. Position requires multi-state tax experience, strong attention to detail, fast and accurate data entry skills. Must be proficient with certified payroll and prevailing wages, with working knowledge of a variety of software packages including ADP, Kronos, Ceridian, Paychex, and Excel. Responsibilities include reconciling payroll related general ledger accounts and W-2 forms, reconciling federal, FICA, state, local and unemployment tax payments, preparing payments of periodic workers’ compensation payroll taxes, preparing journal entries and monthly payroll accruals, and inputting information from timecards into in-house payroll systems. Key responsibilities - Ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and guidelines - Draft reports by organizing all summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages - Payroll record maintenance by tracking changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers - Perform any other duties that arise in the course of normal business operations - Secure confidential payroll operation information and maintain employee confidence - Report needed changes after maintaining payroll operations according to established policies and procedures - Answer questions and requests related to payroll information - Detail all payroll liabilities by establishing employee federal and state income and social security taxes and employer social security, unemployment, and worker compensation payment - Draft relevant year-end reports, as well as weekly, monthly, and quarterly ones, for department heads - Maintaining payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data - Provide assistance as necessary for all internal and external audits related to payroll - Manage issues related to employee deductions and other liabilities, including reconciling - Handle payroll discrepancies through information collection and analysis - Exercise review and verification of source documents Accountemps Salaried Professional Service is the premier provider of accounting and finance professionals on a long-term and recurring basis. - Command of Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills - Expertise in federal and state payroll regulations and requirements - Accurate, swift, data entry abilities - Prior experience working with high volume multi-state payroll, billing, licensing, AP, etc. - Relevant experience should include 2+ years in payroll - Union payroll experience - Weekly Payroll experience preferred - Strong familiarity with Payroll Taxes - Benefits payroll experience desired - Exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills - Preference will be given to Certified Payroll Professional - Earlier experience working with various types of accounting software desired
