You will be a part of a dynamic team with an opportunity for career growth. The Payroll Administrator provides a long-term temporary-to-full-time role from its Charlottesville, Virginia location. Your responsibilities - Deliver assistance to payroll with internal and external audits - Reconcile employee deductions and other liabilities as needed - Promote employee confidence by protecting payroll operations and keeping information confidential - Exercise review and verification of source documents - Resolve payroll discrepancies via information collection and analysis - Providing payroll information by answering questions and requests - Prepare for department heads relevant weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports - Certify compliance with federal and state regulations and guidelines - Payroll information management via collecting, calculating, and entering data - Continue implementation of established policies and procedures to maintain payroll operations, reporting changes where necessary - Compile all information in reference to summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages for reports - Track payroll record changes by entering updates in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers - Other duties as assigned - Establish payroll liabilities after calculating all employee federal and state income and social security taxes and employer social security, unemployment, and worker compensation payments

Requirements

- Remarkable analytical, quantitative and social skills - Expertise in federal and state payroll regulations and requirements - General proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel preferred - Understanding of basic accounting principles and solid financial acumen - Experience using accounting software - 1+ years of relevant experience in payroll - Knowledge of internal controls - Previous experience handling high volume multi-state payroll, billing, licensing, AP, etc. - Preference will be given to Certified Payroll Professional - Ability to enter data into various electronic systems while maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the data - PeopleSoft experience - Experience with Microsoft Excel - Research experience preferred - Payroll Tax experience - Knowledge of payroll
