Director of Finance / Controller - Construction Co - NORTH of Boston

Creative Financial Staffing has partnered with a highly reputable long-standing construction company north of Boston to identify a Director of Finance/Controller to join their team.


Highlights of the Director of Finance/Controller opportunity:


  • The Company: Established nearly 50 years ago, our client is a renowned family-owned construction company who is an industry leader in their niche.

  • Growth: Over the past 10 years the company has experienced significant growth and is looking to continue the expansion of their business; despite this growth, they have maintained a very close-knit, familial culture where this is little turnover.

  • Role: Reporting to the VP of the Company, the Controller’s responsibilities include but are not limited to finance, accounting, budgeting, taxation, financial reporting and interpreting, management of all audits, and development of accounting/administrative process and systems that align with the Company’s mission and values.

  • Exposure: The CFO will be expected to provide business and operational analysis, strategic insight, and tactical financial support to be an effective business partner and trusted advisor to the executives of the company.

Requirements



The Director of Finance/Controller’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Reporting to the VP, the Controller will have 5 direct reports and will have “hands-on” responsibility for all aspects of the day-to-day financial management of the company including: the preparation of the monthly financial package; management of GL accounts, annual audit, and submission of government and related tax returns; and financial planning.

  • Oversee and manage the forecasting system including budget uploads, and monthly projections

  • Manage company credit card accounts

  • Manage compliance with state tax requirements (includes tax-exempt jobs)

  • Manage the flow of financial information between accounting and project management platforms

  • Oversight of payroll processing

  • Develop and implement business process improvement initiatives and strategies.

  • Increase the company’s ability to anticipate business issues and drive good decision-making through sound financial management.

  • Further develop guidelines and processes corresponding to the rapid growth of the company.

  • Continually review accounting policies and procedures to ensure that the company is compliant with GAAP and statutory accounting





Qualifications:




  •  Bachelors’ degree highly preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience as a hands-on accounting manager or controller.

  • Construction industry experience required

  • Job Costing experience preferred.

  • Highly organized

  • Able to work independently

  • Strong systems skills.
