Director, Utility Broadband Business Development

Description

This position will interact with senior and executive level management of  customers, contractors, and suppliers to identify, build, and manage new broadband network business opportunities, specifically FTTx.  Utilizing proven industry experience, this role will identify new opportunities and provide technical support in technology selection, network design, RFP development and project management processes. Position will also be responsible for managing and coordinating resources including proposal development(including technical and commercial aspects of proposal), and supplier coordination and negotiation. Position will lead customer negotiation team through completion of project..  
•         Develop strategic and operational plans to achieve results and ensure alignment with Company goals and objectives.
•         Set goals for the work group, manage execution and measure results.
•         Select, manage, evaluate and develop staff in a matrixed organization structure. Challenge employees; build effective teams; develop organizational capacity; and provide coaching,  feedback, and developmental opportunities.
•         Responsible for identifying, evaluating, and developing new business opportunities in order to expand the business and increase profitability.  Primary market focus is  FTTX, wireless, outside plant (OSP) construction, and access networks.
•         Responsible for developing and expanding existing company relationships, product lines and market segments, and soliciting new business from prospective customers and/or suppliers.
•         Oversee development and research activities to build on company strengths, identify potential new markets and business opportunities, increase market share, and strengthen the company’s competitive position within the industry.
•         Demonstrate advanced knowledge of FTTX newtorks, preferably in broadband and/or Utility market, by establishing relationships with potential customers, their contractors, engineering support, andsuppliers. Represent the company in identifying, evaluating, and negotiating, partnerships, alliances andjoint ventures, current and new business.
•         Compile and analyze statistics pertinent to the company's business development program, report results to senior management and adjust programs as appropriate.
•         Identify and manage new project opportunities from project identification to award
•         Represents the company in various national, regional, municipal  and industry trade organizations to further enhance its image and develop additional business.
•         Maintains a current awareness of trends and issues in legislative/political environment and makes appropriate recommendations to leadership team to adapt business strategy accordinglyOver 50% travel may be required.

Requirements

EXPERIENCERequired -          Related sales experience – 10 years-          Financial analysis, sales, negotiation.-          Proven Understanding of FTTX and Broadband markets.Preferred -          Understanding of Electric Utility industry. EDUCATIONRequired-          Bachelor’s Degree SKILLS/REQUIREMENTSRequired-          Knowledge of industry including suppliers, customers, and competitors.-          Ability to spot new business opportunities and quickly evaluate opportunities.-          Ability to initiate and develop relationships with key decision makers both inside and outside the company.-          Ability to identify and cultivate external resources.-          Strong written and verbal communication skills.-          Strong negotiation skills. Preferred-          Knowledge of WESCO’s existing business lines, strengths and challenges.-          Ability to analyze financial and operational data, statements and projections.-          Ability to accurately recognize when request additional company resources.-          Strong business analysis and financial modeling skills.
