Credit Union/Banking Sr. Staff Accountant

Our well-respected, one location Credit Union located in Spokane is seeking a solid Senior Staff Accountant to add the team. This position offers excellent growth opportunity for that motivated, talented accountant who wants to see the open path to climbing the corporate ladder into senior level leadership! The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for managing the financial, accounting, and bookkeeping functions of the credit union. This position performs a variety of tasks necessary to balance and update the general ledger and subsidiary accounts, maintains and reconciles daily cash accounts, and manages other accounting related duties. Responsibilities include performing a variety of complex accounting tasks, preparing various accounting reports, performing a variety of support duties to the accounting functions, research and special projects. Duties Responsibilities: ACH/EFT experience Represents the Credit Union in a courteous and professional manner Maintains a positive and helpful attitude with members and co-workers Receives and directs members in person and on the phone, responds to inquiries and answers questions in a timely manner Responsible for the efficient and accurate performance of assigned duties within established procedural guidelines Specific Responsibilities: Oversee and manage the financial, accounting, and bookkeeping functions of the credit union Ensures compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Accounting Standard Codification (ASC) Reconciliation of general ledger accounts, cash balances, bank statements, fixed assets, prepaids and investments. Research and resolve discrepancies, cash imbalances, ACH exceptions and returns as needed. Process bi-weekly payroll, submit all required payroll tax payments, maintain and organize all payroll related records, file all payroll related reports. Develop, implement, and evaluate policies and procedures. Ensure that policies and procedures reflect current regulations and that the accounting procedures are in strict compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) Take the initiative to seek out training and educational opportunities. Will be required to complete specific training and educational programs as assigned by management Responsible for assisting the CEO with the financial reporting, financial analyses and cash management or the credit union Responsible for assisting the CEO in preparation of budgets and periodic analysis of budget variances Responsible for assisting the CEO in preparing for audits, exams and various special projects Maintain a strong understanding of the Credit Union products and services Minimum Requirements: A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business or Finance 4+ years of accounting experience preferable in a credit union or bank Strong understanding of accounting within the banking/financial services industry Must be analytical, detail oriented and organized High level of expertise in the use of personal computers in a networked environment with excellent spreadsheet, database, accounting, and word processing experience required Strong organizational, problem solving, analytical, and project management skills; ability to coordinate a variety of projects, prioritize workload, and adjust to change and work requirements. **Interviews will take place on Monday 6/10/19- please apply immediately for consideration for this excellent permanent opportunity**

Minimum Requirements: ACH/EFT experience A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business or Finance 4+ years of accounting experience preferable in a credit union or bank Strong understanding of accounting within the banking/financial services industry Must be analytical, detail oriented and organized High level of expertise in the use of personal computers in a networked environment with excellent spreadsheet, database, accounting, and word processing experience required Strong organizational, problem solving, analytical, and project management skills; ability to coordinate a variety of projects, prioritize workload, and adjust to change and work requirements. Hours: Available to work assigned hours Monday through Friday 8:00am ? 5:30pm. Specific hours to be assigned based on staffing needs. Position may require availability for vacation/sick coverage in addition to regularly assigned hours.
