Credit/Collections Manager

The Credit and Collections Manager must have training in fields of business administration, accountancy, sales, marketing, computer science and similar vocations generally obtained through either a college degree or through relevant work experience. The Credit and Collections Manager shall have a minimum of five (5) years related experience in a credit and collections role in a manufacturing company. Under the general direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the Credit and Collections Manager is responsible for establishment of credit terms and limits for all customers and insuring timely collection from all customers. Specific responsibilities include: 1. Develop and standardize written policy documentation related to the credit and customer set up process. 2. Interface with sales organization to communicate credit decisions and ensure timely review of new customers. 3. Make credit decisions and recommendations within assigned authority. 4. Plan and organize activities to ensure collection reviews are completed timely and accurately. 5. Initiate process improvement and quality reviews to simplify and improve productivity surrounding the credit and collections function. 6. Perform root cause analysis on all customer collection issues and facilitate corrective actions where appropriate. 7. Manage customers on credit hold and communicate accordingly. 8. Make collection calls and correspond with customers regarding account balances and overdue invoices. 9. Supervises other associates involved in customer collection efforts. 10. Provide customer service regarding collection issues, resolve customer discrepancies and short payments, small balance write-off, customer reconciliations and processing credit memos. 11. Accountable for reducing delinquency of accounts. 12. Responsible for initial recommendations regarding allowances for doubtful accounts. 13. Enlist the efforts of sales and senior management when necessary to accelerate the collection process. 14. Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with other functional areas including Sales. 15. Prepares a variety of ad-hoc financial reporting and analysis as required in order to support the President and other Company managers. 16. Requirements

Minimal Skills, Knowledge and Ability Requirements 1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or relevant experience. 2. A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in credit and collections. 3. Understanding of credit reporting agencies and ability to interpret credit reports. 4. Knowledge of billing and collection procedures. 5. Accounts receivable knowledge and experience. 6. Prior experience establishing customer credit terms and limits. 7. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. 8. Strong interpersonal skills. 9. Strong mathematical and analytical skills. 10. Strong leadership skills. 11. Strong presentation skills. 12. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 13. Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel. 14. Experience using ERP systems is required.
