ABOUT THE COMPANY

Our dynamic client located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago is looking to hire a Cost Accounting Manager. With a large and growing accounting and finance team, there is significant opportunity for growth and advancement within the department. The company boasts a team-oriented culture and provides its’ employees with the tools and training necessary to perform.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SENIOR COST ACCOUNTANT

  • They should have detailed experience in understanding the components of overhead cost, burden rates, company allocations to develop rates, work center, routing, BOM and work orders. It’s a hands on job, very detailed.



  • Perform ongoing analysis of process constraints, target costing projects, margin analysis, and tracing costs back to underlying activities



  • Coordinate physical inventory and cycle counts

  • Investigate cycle counting variances and resolve issues

  • Update standard costs in the bill of materials

  • Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies

  • Validate the costs of goods sold as part of the month-end close

  • Accumulate and apply overhead costs as required by GAAP

  • Work with the materials review board to locate and dispose of obsolete inventory

  • Conduct ongoing process constraint analyse

  • Report on breakeven points by products, work centers, and factories

  • Report on margins by product and division

  • Report on periodic variances and their causes, focusing in particular on spending variance

  • Analyze capital budgeting requests

  • Manage a team of 2




Requirements


We are looking for a Cost Accounting Manager with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. You should be highly organized and detail-oriented and possess the ability to effectively work both independently or in a team setting. It is also important that you display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THE SENIOR COST ACCOUNTANT ROLE: 


       
  • At least 5 years of Cost Accounting experience with some corporate accounting experience as well

  • 1+ years of supervisory experience

  • SAP highly desired

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
