The Controller is responsible for all areas relating to accounting and financial reporting. This position will be responsible for maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure timely and accurate financial statements.
The Controller supervises the accounting staff and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely manner.
This position addresses a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, month and year end closing, audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities.
This position reports directly to the CFO and requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.
This position also has lead responsibility for the human resource function and compliance with the various states reporting requirements and serves as primary spokesperson for the company on these matters.
* Finance and Accounting
• Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of customer ERP platforms and processes, financial reporting and general ledger structure.
o Ensure accurate and timely monthly and year end close and financial information reporting.
o Provide financial analysis on both income statement and balance sheet accounts as needed
• Identify and implement cost improvement / cost efficiency actions
o Manage the annual independent audit and audit report process
o Support the bank audit and audit reporting process
o Support budget and forecasting activities.
o Respond to inquiries from the CFO & COO regarding special reporting requests.
o Supervise the accounting team to ensure all financial activities are completed accurately and timely.
o Assist in the development and implementation of new processes and procedures to improve efficiency and productivity.
o Works with other departments to ensure accurate and timely reporting and efficient application of any financial corrective actions.
o Provide training to new & existing staff as needed.
o Support CFO with special projects and work flow enhancements.
o Maintains and ensures strong internal controls to ensure financial security, legal & industry compliance.
o Manage Liability Insurance renewals and administrative duties
o Maintains confidentiality in all areas.Human Resources
o Oversight and management of the payroll process
o On boarding new employees
o Off board employees leaving the company
o Maintaining employee files
o Maintaining employee handbook
* Work with the Company's outside benefit brokers to manage and administer the benefit plans and oversee administration of 401K plan
o Compliance with any federal, state and local filing requirements
o Support operating management on personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc.
• Work with the Company's outside counsel to coordinate support on all compliance matters including: Supporting State Audits; Filing State Annual Reports; State License Renewals
• Responsible for Escheat Process: Due Diligence; State Filing & Remittance; Data Management
