Robert Half Finance is reviewing candidates for a renowned services company for an ambitious, determined Controller. This leadership role oversees an accounting and clerical department. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, manages the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, analyzes accounting and internal control systems, and guides departmental staff. The Controller position is a full-time opportunity in South Houston. How you will make an impact - Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual - Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure that firm-wide operation is efficient and effective - Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals - Handle monthly and yearly close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations G/L analysis - Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings collections, and payroll - Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the yearly budget and forecasts - Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports - Comfortable handling responsibilities beyond formal job duties - Assess deliverables of self and team to verify they meet client expectations - Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed - Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies If you have this experience and would like to learn more about this position, please email your resume to Jennifer Johnson at [Click Here to Email Your Resumé].

Requirements

- Proven analytical skills - defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions - Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds - CPA required - Excellent written, verbal and social communication skills - 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred - Ability to meet deadlines - Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement - BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field - Financial statement preparation experience preferred - Knowledge of cash flow management - Comprehensive knowledge of budget forecasting - Deep understanding of financial planning - Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity - Prior work done in public accounting is desired - Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities - Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued
