Robert Half Finance is searching for an ambitious Controller eager to join the team at a reputable Home building/Construction company. This Controller will oversees an accounting and clerical department. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, handles the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluates accounting and internal control systems, and leads departmental staff. How you will make an impact

  • Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis
  • Complete tasks beyond formal job responsibilities
  • Review deliverable of self and team to align with company expectations
  • Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis
  • Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
  • Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management
  • Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports
  • Support punctual cash collection by managing the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques
  • Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
  • Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed
  • Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation



Requirements

Responsibilities: 

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
  • Ideal candidate will have Home building, Construction or Land Development experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Job Cost and Percentage of Completion Accounting 
  • Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred
