Summary: An award-winning utility and civil infrastructure construction company in Charlotte, NC that has been around for over 60 years area is looking for a Controller to join their team! This role is an exceptional opportunity for a Controller to establish themselves with a growing company offering the potential for future personal growth and leadership opportunities. This client is looking for a self-driven talented Accounting Manager, preferably with Viewpoint Vista Construction software experience, who has a proven track record of successfully managing full-cycle accounting at small construction companies, including month end close, financial reporting, budgeting, financial planning, accounts payables and receivables, payroll, job costing, and duties relating to project accounting. This company offers a great compensation and benefits package (see below!)

Location: Charlotte, NC (North Charlotte) – 100% onsite

Compensation: $95,000 – $125,000, depending on experience and education

Hours: 8am-5pm M-F onsite

Job Duties:

  • Perform all functions of accounting up to preparing financials for tax return
  • Manage and direct a small accounting team of 1-2 employees through strong leadership skills.
  • Assist with developing annual budgeting and financial planning and forecasting.
  • Execute the period-end close process, reconcile GL, financial statements, post journal entries/ accruals, etc.
  • Lead various operational and financial analyses, and preparation of other ad hoc operational and financial reports as requested
  • Oversee and ensure timely and accurate processing of all accounts payable and receivables
  • Oversee AIA, time and material billing process.
  • Calculate on a weekly basis the cash flow standing of the organization.
  • Oversee the payroll process for 50+ employees, including ensuring accurate processing and reconciliation of payroll accounts (withholding tax, 401K, Health Benefits, Garnishments)
  • Perform quarterly tax reporting and verify data integrity for accurate reporting to agencies
  • Work closely with the project managers to ensure accurate data on jobs and cost accounting.
  • Ensure lien releases are collected and make sure proper insurance is in place for each job.
  • Perform project cost management, including monitoring of project profitability.
  • Develop protocols that help establish consistent behaviors in financial operations.
  • Implement accounting policies and standards and enforce compliance.
  • Perform additional projects or tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Accounting
  • 5+ years of well-rounded full-cycle accounting experience in the Construction industry
  • Strong experience with the month-end close process, financial statement preparation, and project accounting.
  • Must have experience managing and leading a small team of 1-2 employees.
  • Vista by Viewpoint Construction software experience is highly desired
  • Strong MS Office skills required, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Must have strong interpersonal and management/leadership skills
