Job Duties


Identify, gather, and review financial information to determine borrower risk ratings and appropriate loan structuring

Analyze borrower financial statements and tax returns with emphasis on the cash flow of underlying investment real estate

Prepare credit memos for approval within assigned limits or for submission to credit administration, making appropriate recommendations

Handle administrative transactions such as ownership structure changes, partial reconveyances etc.

Assess and communicate risks to support risk mitigation strategies

Provide adverse actions according to proper regulatory guidelines

Proactively communicate the loan decision to the Commercial Loan Officers, Specialists and Processors

Proactively communicate with external business partners (including brokers and credit analysts)

Assist and counsel originators in qualifying loans, determining borrower's needs, determining appropriate commercial loan product in light of needs, and obtaining requisite financial data

Guide and coach all Commercial Lending employees on underwriting questions

Requirements

Minimum 3 years’ experience as a commercial loan underwriter required

Strong knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures for underwriting commercial real estate mortgage loans

Ability to analyze policies, procedures and guidelines in a way that maximizes both productivity and loan quality

Ability to work autonomously to manage time effectively and prioritize work appropriately to meet deadlines

Strong business communication skills; able to write/speak clearly and professionally for a variety of stakeholders

Strong analytical, problem solving and strategic thinking skills

Demonstrated ability to establish credibility and rapport with internal and external stakeholders

Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and professionally handle sensitive documents

Proficiency with loan origination software

Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration is preferred; formal credit or commercial loan training is required; minimum of 9 credit hours of accounting preferred
