Chief Financial Officer / CFO - Ability to Drive Change

ABOUT THE COMPANY & CFO OPPORTUNITY

Our client is a successful nonprofit organization that drives prosperity in the Greater Hartford Region.


  • Located in the heart of downtown Hartford with paid parking

  • This position reports directly into the COO

  • 37.5 hour work week

  • Casual, yet professional environment

  • This organization is aligned with HYPE, the regions largest young professional group, as well as the Women’s Leadership Initiative, and the CT Health Council

  • The position comes with a high level of autonomy and provides a platform to drive change and efficiencies


RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CFO:


  • The CFO will develop long-term financial model and regularly monitor financial performance of the organization;

  • Report to the Board of Directors on a monthly basis

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements

  • The CFO will manage project budgets and financial reports for international funders;

  • Manage the draft tax reporting (IRS 990) and other local and state regulatory reporting requirements;

  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements;

  • Coordinate all audit activity and prepare detailed audit schedules;

  • The CFO will oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable and supervise two staff who execute A/R and A/P transactions;

  • Oversee all payments, wires and ACH transactions;

  • Provide oversight on credit card reconciliation, employee expense reports, cash control, and oversee payroll tax compliance; and

  • The CFO will Manage the annual budget process

  • Monitor investment portfolio as appropriate and bank balance positions during the year;

  • Review balance sheet and income statements for accuracy.


EXPERIENCE PREFERRED FOR THE CFO :


  • Strong Accounting background and hands on with financial statement preparation

  • BS degree in Accounting or Finance OR equivalent work history

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

  • Public accounting or non profit experience a plus but not required
