Assistant Controller (newly created role with growing Twin Cities Company)


The successful candidate will be joining a finance team whose focus is to drive value for the business and should be ready to learn and adapt quickly in a dynamic environment. Key responsibilities include aspects of operational accounting, technical analysis, and SEC reporting. The ideal candidate is energetic, detail-oriented, collaborative and driven to get the job done with excellence. The position reports to the Assistant Controller.

Responsibilities


  • Support the external reporting process, manage SEC deadlines, assist and lead various projects related to SOX compliance and SEC reporting

  • Assist in the preparation/review of periodic accounting entries and reconciliations

  • Facilitate the monthly, quarterly and year-end close process

  • Partner with the R&D teams to develop and maintain robust accrued expense models used for month-end close accounting and budgeting

  • Coordinate and assist with the consolidated audit preparation conducted by independent accounting firm

  • Support evaluation and evolution of financial policies and procedures

  • Provide support to other teams across the company as needs arise, including special projects or ad-hoc financial analyses as required

Requirements

Education/Qualifications


  • 3-4 years of relevant experience in a public company is required

  • Working knowledge of US GAAP, SOX, SEC reporting and XBRL requirements

  • Big 4 public accounting firm and CPA license preferred

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, advanced Excel skills

  • Experience with Oracle NetSuite

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to anticipate events, prioritize assignments, deal with interruptions, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and growth-oriented environment
