Our client, has an exceptional opportunity for an Assistant Controller.  This role is responsible for managing the preparation and distribution of financial statements and supplementary reporting for internal and external use. Additional duties include the timely, accurate and efficient accounting duties including:  reporting, budgeting, internal control, audits, process improvements, system upgrades, etc.  This role will also be responsible for financial analysis to facilitate business strategy and decision making, supporting the Director of Finance and Controller and management team with financially related projects.  The Assistant Controller will utilize interpersonal skills to lead and develop the Accounting team, improving individual and department efficiency and effectiveness while maintaining a positive and development oriented work environment.



RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE ASSISTANT CONTROLLER:

  • Develops and executes operating plans and strategies in areas of responsibility that are in alignment with the Strategy Statement and high level objectives; measures performance against plans, explains variances and identifies opportunities.

  • Assists the Director of Finance and Controller in the preparation of the annual budget for the Company.

  • Executes the month end closing process and preparation of financial statements and reports.

  • Prepares monthly compliance reporting to banks including collateral reports and financial covenants.

  • Maintains and reconciles the general ledger.

  • Monitors Company performance against budget and explains variances and identifies opportunities for profit improvement.

  • Establishes policies and procedures and internal controls and assures compliance.

  • Assures the accuracy of financial records and reports.

  • Supports and prepares necessary documentation for both internal and external audits.

  • Stays current on trends and practices in accounting and finance.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance 
  • 4-6 years Accounting experience
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
