Job Summary:
The Manager of the Reconciliation team in Apple Bank’s Accounting Department oversees all daily reconciliation activities, including but not limited to the FRB, Transit Checks, ATM/VISA, and third party returned check settlements. In addition to month end closing responsibilities, the Manager balances and maintains the general ledger, files sales tax (quarterly & annually), along with backup withholding bank returns. The incumbent also assumes a key role as the department implements automated accounting processes by documenting the entire process for our internal/external auditors and regulators. The Manager seeks to enhance the professional development of team members and collaborates with peer managers and key business partners to support a culture of innovation and collaboration.
Job Responsibilities

Oversee daily/weekly/monthly bank account settlements.

Review daily posting of General Ledger entries.

Troubleshoot reconciliation differences; communicate with all parties involved (branches, vendors, etc.); correct errors by posting adjusting journal entries and act proactively to prevent similar situations from taking place; place controls in place to tighten the process and reduce risk.

Assume key role in automating the reconciliation process; create status dashboard to track processes in order to create visibility for efficient month end close.

Update and maintain vendor database including the tracking of supply costs.

Review loan accounting reconciliations and add processes in place to streamline monthly reporting.

Demonstrate a proactive and positive approach to problem resolution, production improvement and change management

Respond to requests from Internal Audit, Risk Management, and Compliance departments, as well as external regulators in a timely manner.

Create, test and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans for team.

Review and approve check adjustment claims with Federal Reserve Bank.

Prepare annual backup withholding tax form 945 & 945A and file with the IRS.

Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships.

Maintain up-to-date policies and procedures, as well as manuals for each operational area of Bank.

Provide backup to Wireroom team when needed.

Secure financial information and safeguard customer information.
Skills/Education/Experience:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.

5+ years accounting experience for a bank or financial institution, including 3 years of managerial experience.

Must have experience with month end close process.

Knowledge of U.S. GAAP accounting including cash and accrual accounting methods.

Excellent analytical skills.

Demonstrated ability with Microsoft Office suite; must have advanced Excel skills.
