The Regulatory Exam Management team at Apple Bank is seeking an Assistant Vice President to participate in regulatory interactions between LOBs and various prudential regulators. Assistant Vice President will play a key role assisting the Head of Regulatory Exam Management with overseeing regulatory examinations across the enterprise and provide related reporting to the Board of Directors. The Assistant Vice President will interact directly with regulators from key regulatory agencies (FDIC, NYSDFS, and FRBNY). Accordingly, candidates for this role should be highly motivated, self-starters with exceptional judgement and strong analytical, advisory, communication, and project management skills. This is a specific and critical role within the Legal function, which offers great visibility and the opportunity to interact with senior management and subject matter experts across the bank.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in the management of the end-to-end process for enterprise-wide onsite examinations by the regulators, including reviewing examination requests, advising internal stakeholders, and reviewing and obtaining approval for regulatory submissions.
Work with the Head of Regulatory Exam Management in the overall project management of regulatory examinations, including the timely delivery of requested documentation to the regulators and monitoring of regulatory issues.
Provide strategic advice to and collaborate directly with key stakeholders within all lines of business, including C-level executives and Vice Presidents.
Communicate extensively and develop strong relationships with regulators.
Create reports for regulatory examination results and issue remediation progress for Senior Management and the Board of Directors.
Build and maintain a strong working relationship with internal partners and colleagues.
Perform other functions as requested.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Track a large volume of regulatory requests and provide updates to the Head of Regulatory Exam Management, other internal stakeholders, and regulators.
Work with key business stakeholders to evaluate and obtain information for regulatory requests, and effectively challenge the relevance of that documentation to satisfy the regulatory request.
Assemble requested information in a clear and organized manner, and provide to the regulators.
Maintain internal and external sources for regulatory examination management documentation sharing.
Prepare business stakeholders for meetings with the regulators.
Coordinate onsite meetings and related logistics.
Track all regulatory examination findings, analyze data, provide metrics, and summarize significant issues across the enterprise.
Work closely with business partners to assess regulatory examination results, create detailed remediation plans, and monitor the progress of those action plans.
Draft presentations and other reporting for Head of Regulatory Exam Manager’s use at Board and Committee meetings.
Research and maintain an awareness of significant regulatory changes and issues within the banking industry, and provide training to Bank employees, as appropriate.
SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
The ideal candidate will have three or more years of experience performing regulatory examination management or regulatory enforcement responsibilities at a financial institution or regulatory agency.
BA/BS degree a must; Master’s or other advanced degree in a related field considered a plus.
Strong knowledge of U.S. financial regulations and banking products.
Comprehensive understanding of regulatory expectations relating to regulatory examinations.
Demonstrate ability to closely partner with and advise key business leaders on regulatory interactions.
Excellent interpersonal, leadership, project management, and communication skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment, while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Proactive, intuitive, resourceful, and technologically savvy problem solver, anticipate and effectively manage and coordinate with other team members.
