The Estate Settlement Manager is responsible for the accurate and timely handling, as well as the
settlement of decedent and estate items, providing courteous, professional service to legal estate
representatives, law firms, and account claimants. The Manager is considered the subject matter expert
(SME), walking our clients through the settlement process that affect trust and estate accounts.
Additionally, the incumbent must be able to manage trust/estate settlement administrations to a high
professional standard and in accordance with the Bank’s established policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform all functions of estate settlement including but not limited to: decedent and estate items,
providing courteous, professional service to legal estate representatives, law firms, and account
Review documents to ensure they adhere with Bank policies and guidelines to settle estate and
deceased trust accounts.
Interface with Legal Department to keep abreast of legal changes affecting the settlement of
Serve as a resource to staff for all items related to the settlement of estate and trust accounts.
Handle all deceased depositor electronic notifications submitted to the Bank by the US Treasury
Manage staff of service representatives and promotes professional team atmosphere that
encourages open expression of ideas and opinions.
Produce work and maintain records that meet and comply with audit, regulatory, and security
Perform additional department functions as required.
SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
5+ years of experience in settlement estate processing required.
Minimum of 2 years managing direct reports; ability to manage, train and evaluate staff members.
Deep understanding of trusts and estates.
Customer service oriented, a must.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of Apple Bank banking floor operation, policies and
Demonstrated knowledge of our computer system programs, including Interact, HFSTERM,
Cypress, & Odin.
Proficient in Microsoft Word & Excel.
Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
Knowledge of Apple Bank products and services helpful.
Excellent communication skills (verbal + written).
Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
Must be dependable, flexible and able to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to work within the normal hours of the department, but must be flexible to work
weekends and/or extended hours as needed.
