SQL Server Database Administrator
Job Title: Database Administrator
Location: East Lansing, MI (Onsite)

Key Responsibilities of the Database Administrator:
- Day-to-day Database Administration tasks.
- Participating in project work such as updating infrastructure, disaster recovery planning, high availability, etc.
- Prioritize site reliability, security, and transparency.
- Methodically work to improve automation and tooling for all aspects of the SDLC including business analysis, prioritization, development, testing, deployment, change management, and provisioning of needed resources to support business departments, users, and customers.
- Participate in resolving production incidents when necessary.
- Work to identify and effectively communicate ideas for improvement.
- Troubleshoot user or system issues as assigned.
Preferred Skills of the Database Administrator:
- Strong understanding of Microsoft SQL Server, including installation, configuration, and best practices.
- Ability to automate common Microsoft SQL Server administration tasks, including backups, integrity checks, statistic updates, index maintenance, and monitoring.
- Ability to make software design recommendations for application code that interacts with our database systems, especially when it comes to identifying and communicating advantages and tradeoffs associated with different design choices.
- Familiarity with the security model in Microsoft SQL Server, and a sense of ownership over the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our data.
Bonus Skills of the Database Administrator:
- Experience creating SQL queries, stored procedures, and table joins.
